The Custom Process

1. Preliminary Consultation

Jonathon Dahl custom furniture and cabinetry projects begin with a preliminary consultation at no fee. Jonathon will guide you through the customizing process which includes where and how the furniture or cabinetry is to be used, the style of your home and other furnishings, as well as your personal needs and lifestyle.

2. Preliminary Sketches and Pricing

Preliminary renderings and pricing will then be sent for your review. Should the sketches and pricing meet your approval, a design deposit is accepted. The amount of the deposit varies with the scope of the project, but normally ranges from $200 to $700. The initial deposit enables Jonathon to spend time refining the design, final investment figure and complete Custom Design Overview.

3. Custom Design Overview

The Custom Design Overview will then be sent for your review and approval. The Custom Design Overview will include your personalized design as well as investment information and any options that are available with your design. The initial deposit would then be applied to the design fee for the cabinetry project.

4. Down Payment

After accepting the design, an initial deposit is required to begin your custom creation. Commissions usually require 50% down and 50% upon completion. Large projects require 25% down with successive draws tied to work completed.

5. Work begins

Completion time depends on the size of the project and the current workload, but normally averages 10 - 12 weeks.

6. Delivery / Installation

The delivery and/or installation of your custom furniture or cabinetry is scheduled and upon receipt and installation final payment is made.
